Not so long ago, Jim Broyles presented his folk musical ‘Davey, Do You See the Light?’ in two sellout performances here in Swallow Hill’s Tuft Theatre. The audience was unexpectedly surprised and delighted. It told a story about a coal mine disaster with elements of rhyming verse, bright imagery and original songs. Some called it ‘mesmerizing’ and ‘spellbinding’. Frankly, we hadn't seen anything like it before. Well, now there's something new and different again! The show will celebrate the release of Jim's new CD entitled ‘A Moment of Time’, which draws on the awesome skills of music producers Brian Hunter (Swallow Hill), Luke Halpin (Bettman & Halpin) and Michael Evan Sheppard (The Bunkhouse in Santa Fe). This new release offers an eclectic brew of styles and fanciful departures from ‘Davey’ and his previous work. Expect to hear some flavors of Jazz, Celtic, Folk, Bluegrass and pop-inspired music in the mix. It promises to be a blend of the old and the new, and will include some invited guests who will be familiar to many of us in the Swallow Hill community and the local music scene.
