Through lecture, experiential activities and discussion they will identify the stress and relaxation response, types of meditation and imagery as well as indications for use in acute, outpatient and self-care. Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to: Discuss the indications and contra indications for use of meditation, mindfulness and imagery in the acute care and outpatient settingsList two evidence-based research studies supporting practice in mindfulness, meditation or imageryExperience the role of the practitioner and recipient of an imagery sessionResources and Tools: (Lecture based programs you MUST provide references and tools for the learners specific to the session’s topic. For M&M, Case Conference, and Tumor Boards you must provide references and tools to cover the academic year.) Joint Accreditation Statement: In support of improving patient care, Northwell Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. Credit Designations: Physicians Northwell Health designates this live activity for a maximum of 7 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.Nurses Northwell Health designates this activity for 7 ANCC contact hours.Physician Assistants Northwell Health has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria.
