The William "Bill" Johnson Advocate for Public Health award is in honor of the health department's first administrator Bill Johnson, who served as the administrator for 40 years. The Advocate Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the mission and vision of Audrain County Health Department. The inaugural award will be presented to current ACHD Board of Health member and former board chair Dr. Kathleen Weaver. Dr. Weaver will be presented with the award at a dinner and ceremony at the Presser Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, November 8th, 2022, with a 6:00 p.m. start time with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. The award ceremony will follow the dinner. The dinner is open to the public and costs $25 per ticket or $200 for a table of eight people. The proceeds from the dinner will go to help support the ACHD Team For Assistance program. Team for Assistance is a 501 (c)(3) not for profit organization designed to provide needed health care services and prescription medicine for Audrain County residents who are under-insured, uninsured or experiencing a temporary financial hardship.
