Brian's House, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides support and services for adults with intellectual disabilities in the Philly metropolitan area. Under general supervision, the Maintenance Worker performs a wide variety of skilled and semi-skilled building maintenance jobs as related to Brian’s House Group homes and facilities and performs related duties as required while demonstrating sensitivity to and respect for our diverse population. Basics: -Assists in the construction, alteration, preparation, painting and repair of structures made of wood, plaster, drywall, concrete or brick, assist in construction of cabinets, tables, shelves, furniture and other, as may be required. -Assists in maintenance and minor repairs to heating ventilation systems and air conditioning. -Assists in troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems including breakers, switches, outlets, lighting and fire alarms. -Assists in the repair and maintenance of lockable hardware, such as doors, windows, lockers and ensure the safety of facilities. -Maintain records, complete work order requests as needed and track parts used. -Assists in the repair of plumbing and heating fixtures, piping of various size and type. -Replace components such as washers, gaskets, filters, toilet seats, faucets and shower heads, opens clogged drains and others as may be required by the job. -Confers with Maintenance Supervisor to discuss work progress and problems, receive counseling and instruction on a daily basis. -Maintains appropriate service or repair records (work orders). -Researches and purchases parts and supplies. -Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service. -Does on-call services on a rotating basis. Requirements: -Valid and current driver’s license. -High school graduate, trade school or apprenticeship programs. -At least one relevant trade in a commercial, industrial or facilities setting. -Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting minimum of 50lbs, bending and standing, climbing and walking. -Must be able to safely use manual tools, power tools common to the construction trades. -Must be able to work in inclement weather, outside exposure to cold, rain or snow.
