Write on the River writers retreat will partner with the Kalama Library to bring 20 acclaimed authors to southwest Washington on October 8, 2022. This first-ever Meet The Author event gives the public the chance to connect one-on-one with today’s top writers. The event is free and open to the public at the Kalama Community Building. “For book lovers, having a group of authors come to town is better than a circus,” says Elaine Bystrom, Library Director. “We couldn’t pass up this opportunity to connect them with our readers.” “This event has something for everyone,” says Sheryl Scarborough, a Kalama author who organized the writer’s retreat. “Meet award-winning authors of mystery/suspense books, picture books, even elementary school and YA novels.” Fans of mysteries, cozies, suspense and Private Investigator books should not miss the Whodunnit Game, which offers fun, prizes, and the rare chance to learn the secrets of mystery authors. Kalama is located 30 miles from PDX right on the beautiful Columbia River.
