The Louisville Arts Center will be screening "Beverly of Graustark", a long-unavailable comic-adventure-romance, recently restored from a gorgeous nitrate print from the Library of Congress. The silent film will be accompanied by Rodney Sauer on piano.
"Beverly of Graustark" is a 1926 silent romantic comedy. Beverly Calhoun of New Jersey accompanies her cousin to reclaim the crown of the kingdom of Graustark. The film follows Beverly across dark mountains as she encounters treacherous officers and wild gender-bending plot twists.
Beverly is played by Marion Davies, one of the most charming comediennes in 1920s Hollywood.
