Join us September 24th for an unforgettable al fresco evening on our Harbor View Lawn featuring a symphony string quartet led by Jae Cosmos Lee, Concertmaster of the Cape Symphony and the Boston Festival Orchestra, complemented by the Chatham coastline and the Atlantic Ocean as an elegant backdrop. This exquisite experience will begin with a welcome reception at 6pm featuring a decadent selection of canapes and hors d'oeuvres prepared by our award-winning culinary team. А cash bar will be available with a bespoke selection of wine, champagne, beer and two Chatham Bars Inn signature cocktails: Old Fashioned and Fall Sangria crafted by our resort mixologist. At 7pm guests will be invited to their seats to enjoy an hour-long alluring live musical performance by Concertmaster Jae Cosmos Lee, Rhiannon Banerdt (Assistant Concertmaster), Kee Kim, and Colin Brooke who will take the audience on a classical musical tour for the evening. The music selected by Jae Cosmos Lee takes inspiration from music that sounds and feels like it is being created in the moment. Elements of improvisation, freedom of expression and ideas, but then the sounds unify into a singular idea at pivotal points and the effect is even more powerful, especially with the sonority of a string quartet. Jae has selected pieces by three different female composers from different walks of life. All three of these composers, Caroline Shaw, Eleanor Alberga and Jessie Montgomery are performing musicians, who not only write music, but are also exquisite performers themselves. Two of the three composers are also composers of color, conjuring musical influences from traditional African and Jamaican folk idioms, jazz, rock and even hints of techno music sprinkled in their compositions. But in the moment of performance, experiencing these sounds is an event on its own, because the structures of the compositions are so inventive and varied, imbued by qualities of dance, humor and wit. These composers are three of the most sought after and most performed composers of the last 10 years in the classical music scene. Jae carefully chose this music wanting to bring these new sounds to the curious and avid listeners of Cape Cod. Following the performance, a delicate selection of house made desserts will be available. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held indoors in the South Lounge. Ticket price is $65 per person, inclusive of food offerings. Advance reservations are required. Cancellations within 48 hours will incur a full charge.
