Fall 2022 Semester Age 13-17 Wednesdays 9/22 - 11/10 Session 1 - 9:00-10:30 - Metalworks Session 2 - 12:45-2:15 - Ceramics Minimum: 10, if we do not get enough signups by September 16th we will postpone the program and refund all registrations. Maximum: 12 Explorations in Metalsmithing Come learn the foundations of metalsmithing! In this 8-week workshop students will learn to design and create their own unique metalwork. Students will learn the tools, techniques and science of working with metal. We’ll explore piercing, filing, sanding, stamping, texturing, engraving, soldering, shaping/forming, polishing, and applying patina. Students will be able to apply what they learn to a wide variety of projects like; signs, jewelry; earrings, bracelets, rings, necklaces. Students are encouraged to think outside the box and make projects that resonate with them. This class is especially designed for students ages 13-17. This eight week program runs from 9:00-10:30am from September 22nd-November 10th. A non refundable deposit of $75.00 will hold your spot and go toward your full tuition of $295.00. Teen Ceramics In this 8-week workshop students will learn the fundamentals of creating with clay. We will explore a variety of hand-building methods such as slabs, coils, and hollowed-out forms to create sculptures as well as functional items. Students will be introduced to the basics of working with clay on a potter’s wheel in our fully equipped studio, explore methods of surface design and learn to use glazes. In interactive discussions students will be introduced to the history and cultural origins of these varying design styles. During each class there will be instructional time as well as guided open studio time to support students in developing their unique pieces. Each student will create several finished pieces of pottery to bring home at the conclusion of the class. This class is especially designed for students ages 13-17. This class runs eight Thursdays from 12:45 to 2:15PM; September 22nd through November 10th.
