Salve Regina first opened its doors nearly 75 years ago, in September 1947. To commemorate this milestone, the university is hosting a yearlong celebration to highlight the continued development of our academic community and honor 75 years of mercy in higher education. Join in the festivities of our anniversary kickoff weekend with a 5k (3.1 mile) run or walk on Sunday, September 25. The flat and fast course starts and finishes on the Salve Regina campus and includes a run through Newport's historic Bellevue Avenue / Ochre Point neighborhood of Gilded Age mansions. And don't forget to come decked out in your Salve gear! Light refreshments will be available following the fun run. ***Registration is required in advance for this event. There will be no race-day registration.*** Schedule of Events7 - 8:15 a.m. | Check in at Rodgers Recreation CEnter 8:30 a.m. | 5k run and walk 10 a.m. | Award presenations Check-InThe check-in table will open at 7 a.m. on Sunday, September 25. Registered participants can pick up their numbers and t-shirts at this time. Free t-shirts will be available to those runners checking in on a first come, first serve basis. AwardsGift certificates will be presented to the top winners of the race. COURSE MAPFAQCan my dog join me for the fun run? Yes! Dogs are allowed as long as they are leashed and walking only. May I participate in this run with a stroller? Yes! Walkers of the fun run may have a stroller with them. How are we keeping track of our time? Results will be reported by being hand-timed.
