Help with Trace Inverter and Xantrex Truecharge2 40A battery charger

Description
Two issues I'm looking for help with: I've got a Xantrex TRUECHARGE2 40A battery charger on my boat. For some reason it doesn't appear to be charging the new AGM batteries (they're 8Ds) I purchased. The charge output is stuck at 5%, and the Charge Type is stuck on "Gel" (I haven't been able to change it, despite pushing/holding the button for 3 seconds). I was able to change the Type before I installed the new batteries (the old batteries were regular Flooded 8Ds, not AGM 8Ds). If you have experience and expertise in this system I'd love you help with diagnosing and fixing the issue. It's far to easy to just look at it and say "replace it," so I'm looking for someone who can offer more than that. I've also got a Trace Engineering Inverter/Charger setup which plugs into all this. I can't tell exactly which model it is, but it looks a lot like the Trace Xantrex SW4024 AC Board. The control panel has been acting up. The buttons work, but the little display showed a lot of garbled text. Then I factory reset it the control panel, and it worked great (screen worked), but I've got no idea how to use it. And now the display even turned off (but it otherwise appears to be working). I'm hoping someone with some knowledge about this type of system can come diagnose and/or fix (maybe as simple as powering it down, taking it apart, unplugging and plugging all connections, turning it back on: ). Again I'm not looking for the "just buy another one" type of answer, but instead I'm looking for real expertise. This is all in the engine room of a boat. So you'd need to be able to go up and down narrow stair well and be ok operating in somewhat smaller spaces. I'm looking for help this week (day or night), happy to pay cash in person or online transfer. I normally like learning about this stuff, but I'm so strapped for time, I'm looking for an expert who can help me out. Thanks!
