It's the perfect night to spend some quality time together learning something new. Plus, you get to take home what you paint! No prior experience necessary. The painting workshop with Marlene Boonstra is from 5:00p - 7:00p. Adults will use acrylic paints and the kids will use tempura. Pizza will be hot and ready at 7:00p! I hope that you will enjoy participating in the creative process through these family workshops. For the last 60+ years I lived and taught in Chicago, Illinois except for my 3 ½ years at Calvin College where I majored in Psychology, Studio Art and Education. I graduated from Trinity Christian College with a degree in Psychology, Studio Art and Art Education. I hold a Master’s degree in Painting, Drawing and Art History. I have attained signature status in both the Transparent Watercolor Society of America and the American Watercolor Society. Both societies are internationally recognized for advancing the field of watercolor. Most recently I earned a Certificate of Distinction in Botanical Illustration from the Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh in Scotland and am currently finishing their 3 year degree program. I have been represented by a number of Midwest galleries including the Bergsma Gallery and Grand Gallery in Grand Rapids. I regard myself as a life-long learner as well as an educator. I have had the pleasure of teaching in both conventional and non-conventional settings. I have taught across all grade and ability levels including developing curriculum for special needs and gifted programming. It has only reinforced my belief that anyone and everyone benefits from developing their creativity at any point in life. I look forward to getting to know you and help you find your creative voice.
