TUSCALOOSA, AL — Local and state authorities are searching for an Alabama Department of Corrections inmate who reportedly escaped while in a medical furlough program in Tuscaloosa County. ADOC says he did not return to his assigned residence or check in with his assigned sponsor while serving his sentence.
Tommy Jordan Mims, 51, was serving a 30-year prison sentence for an aggravated stalking conviction in 2006 at the time of his escape at approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday.
He is described as 5'11" and weighing 172 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. Mims was also wearing civilian clothes and not an ADOC uniform.
Those with information about the whereabouts of Mims are asked notify local law enforcement or call the Alabama Department of Corrections at 1 (800) 831-8825.
