Description

Hello everyone, I hope life is treating you well! I'm just checking in to see if there would be any interest in a slightly different take on the Classic Rock thing. It seems that there a lot of talented bands in ABQ that are doing a great job with the blues based, guitar driven, male dominated harder rock sound. Some even fronted by some talented, entertaining female singers. I would like to expand the boundaries of what is normally considered Classic Rock to include some artists/songs that don't usually get covered, songs that are more piano driven and include the great female recording icons. I would like to tell you first: I have no professional experience. I have never played a gig. I am a lifelong music fan, music lover, and serious home hobbyist. I spend countless hours in my small music room playing along with recordings and videos trying to figure out details of favorite songs. I have spent my life as a Manufacturing Professional so my work requires quality, excellence and attention to detail. The posts often say "everything from A/C D/C to ZZ Top". Well, to paint a picture for you, I play "everything from ABBA to Warren Zevon". Steely Dan. Elton John. Joe Cocker. David Bowie. Beatles. Beach Boys. Madonna. Diana Ross. Mariah Carey. If I may ask the Bluesman: Why are you not playing 'Vision of Love'? Mariah's debut is as Classic as Classic gets and as Blues as Blues gets. Cher. Cass Elliot. I could go on and on. I am as much a rock historian as anything else. I can play a little of everything. But, as much as I admire and respect the Conservatory trained virtuosos, I am not in that same league. The piano bar, dueling piano folks. I am just a fan, historian of the Rock Era. The dream is a small band based on the great 4 instrument (guitar, bass, drums, piano) bands of the rock era: the early Elton John band. Rod Stewart era Faces. Fleetwood Mac. Peter Frampton's band. Hollies, Beatles, Beach Boys. If nothing else maybe I could meet some other music hobbyists/friends who would like to get together and play some fun songs. I should say that I lean towards upbeat songs with a bit of complexity, songs in Major keys with lots of chords, lyrics, and key changes. I look forward to hearing from you.
