The Greater Oregon Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists is excited to bring back its annual Build a Better Journalist Conference as an in-person event!
This year we're hosting it at the University of Oregon campus in Eugene. Masks will be required, as this will be an in-person, indoors event.
Session topics include:
Know your rights: An overview of your legal rights as a journalistPhotography for non-photojournalistsPublic records 101Highlighting solutions through solutions journalismDEI in the newsroomFinding stories in dataInvestigative journalism as a public serviceReporting on homelessnessMentoring future journalists through the High School Journalism Institute Thoughtful reporting on addiction and mental healthAFTER-HOURS: There will be a happy hour gathering shortly after the conference. Details will be emailed to attendees.
TICKETS: Tickets are $20 for SPJ members, $30 for non-members, and $10 for students.
STUDENTS: We're also offering five no-cost spots for students who'd like to attend the event. Email us at [email protected] with a few sentences about what you're studying, where, and why you'd like to attend the conference.
