Description

Hello, Community! It’s Kishana here, she/her pronouns. I’m requesting your attention for a few minutes as I share the contents included below. Thanks! I am honored and privileged to have been selected for the Leadership Education and Advancement for Professionals (LEAP) Academy Cohort 8. Throughout this journey of learning alongside other leaders of color located across the United States, I’ve received extensive training about various leadership topics, one-on-one coaching, and gained a community that has offered me validation, support, insight, and invaluable life-changing experiences. Because of LEAP, I feel better prepared to thrive! The opportunity to participate in LEAP has been a gift that I wish others would receive. As an offering from my experience, I present my Pay it Forward Project, where I will train on the topic of strategic planning, which is one of the topics that is covered in the academy. This presentation will be hosted at the 1st Quarterly Meeting 22-23 of the Massachusetts Women of Color Network. Please join us for the Pay it Forward Project in-person on Friday, September 23, 2022, 2pm-4pm Strategic planning is the process of defining a vision for the future, identifying goals and objectives, creating a plan for achieving the vision, implementing the plan, and evaluating the process and results. Strategic planning can be done at all levels of our lives; personally, and professionally. Typically, when people think about strategic planning, they think of it as the responsibility of the leader(s) of the organization. However, the best strategic plans are created in collaboration with the leader(s) and the entire team. There can be strategic planning for an organization, including planning across all its teams/departments/services. There can be programmatic strategic planning, specific to an individual program or team within an organization. Also, there can be strategic planning for personal goals and projects within someone’s life, such as moving across the country, adopting a new pet, paying off debt, etc. If any of this sparks interest, a thought, or a question, consider joining us and/or invite a friend! We are looking forward to a fantastic time with the MAWOCN community as we learn together, enjoy refreshments, laughter, and great company. Please register by September 22, 2022, at 5 pm. If you have questions, please contact Kishana at [email protected] or (508) 443-1990. Thanks! PLEASE NOTE: *This event is intended only for self-identified BIPOC, women of color employees currently working in the DV/SA field in Massachusetts. With that said, please be sure to use your agency/work email to register. * If you are a white ally, are joining from a different state, or are not currently working in the field of domestic violence or sexual assault, thank you for your interest. Though you will not be joining us for this event, please know that we appreciate your support and are looking forward to creating opportunities where we can ally with/partner with you in the future. Sincerely, Massachusetts Women of Color Network
