PETRA is currently seeking foreman-level construction technicians who hold experience in carpentry, framing, drywalling, and/or demolition, as well as leading teams in these areas. POSITION SUMMARY: A goal-driven individual that succeeds by providing customer and service support. Delivers the desired Customer Service experience while maintaining professionalism in a team-oriented atmosphere. Shall generally be available to accept emergency phone calls after hours (primarily when company vehicle, phone, or allowances are issued). REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: The incumbent is expected to complete work assignments under no supervision, exercising latitude in determining objectives of assignment; schedules and arranges own activities and others in accomplishing these objectives. Reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent and or the Project Superintendents. Coordinates with Carpenter Lead and Field Technicians. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Maintains the “Safety Culture” • Represents and understands the Petra Safety Program. • Personal Protective Equipment required at all times. • Assist in the implementation and compliance of all company policy OSHA safety standards on each job site for the carpentry staff assigned. • Knows how to identify hazards and “STOP” imminent dangers. • Mentors others on safe practices. • Reports any noticeable violations to immediate Supervisor. • Communicates with Assistant Superintendent any safety training that may be necessary. • May conduct weekly safety meeting minutes for assigned personnel. 2. Leads in staff direction for the carpentry/drywall/demolition, and service crews to achieve the highest levels of productivity. • Approach each day with a positive attitude. • As needed by Assistant Superintendent, will assist in providing proper and adequate scheduling of Field Technicians or other staff members assigned to ensure project deadlines are met. • When Assistant Superintendent is unavailable or on vacation will handle those responsibilities. • Delegates appropriately for effective use of time and resources. • Displays good leadership skills • Assist in overseeing daily activities. • Communicates issues with personnel performance with Assistant Superintendent. • Communicates regularly with the Assistant Superintendent, Project Superintendents, employees, and other office staff on jobs assigned. • Record keeping such as daily reports, pictures, and hours worked by assigned staff. 3. Supports best practices in carpentry/drywall/demolition, and other assigned tasks to ensure the highest quality and production standards are met on each project. • Utilize established blueprints and specifications to accurately and correctly complete each project assigned. May, at times, need to obtain submittals to verify products. • Oversee assigned field staff project schedules for timeliness and the highest quality standards. • Responsible for assigned carpentry staff production and quality control on assigned jobs. • Responsible for an assigned range of rough and finish skilled carpentry work. 4. Assists in ordering all materials for projects in the carpentry/drywall/demolition scope of work. • Based on individual projects assigned will order and procure all materials necessary to complete the project with approval from Assistant Superintendent. • Working with the Assistant Superintendent will calculate and provide material orders needed on assigned projects. • Delegate scope of work necessary to carpenters and laborers assigned. 5. Develop and manage relationships with Team Members for effective job completion. • Work directly with Field Technicians and coordinates with sub-contractors to develop and maintain efficient project completions. • Maintain open and honest lines of communication with staff assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of three to five years in carpentry/drywall/demolition, and/or craft experience in similar construction industry with a good driving record. Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (equipment, methods); craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations, engineering, schedules, and safety required. 10hr OSHA training is required and 30hr OSHA training is preferred. Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills are essential. Expected to be the competent person on assigned projects and acquire and maintain necessary certifications.
