Communicate with the truck Drivers and customers via phone, email or text 2. Relay work orders, route rescheduling and assisting the driver with any inquiries 3. Keep track of driver's location and clock to make sure freight stays on schedule 4. Dispatch drivers on contracted loads by relaying pickup and delivery information as well as routing 5. Minimizing dead heads and maximizing revenue 6. Maintain professional relationships with all parties involved 7. Report detention, OOS, TONU and layover immediately 8. Stay up to date on freight trends 9. Know backhaul/head-haul markets and the relevant pricing 10. Soliciting new shippers to gain direct freight 11. Check broker creditworthiness to ensure prompt payment to the driver 12. Complete new customer contracts 13. Pre-planning assigned drivers 14. Computer proficient dispatcher 15.
