Come join our team! We are seeking motivated, friendly individuals who take pride in their work. This job assists with a variety of conservation efforts such as trash removal, vegetation management, trail repair, and general maintenance of natural areas, parks, and trails. SCHEDULE This is a six-month (6) seasonal position from November 7 through April 30 Forty (40) hour work week; typical schedule is Monday through Friday; 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM May include weekend and holiday shifts depending on departmental needs A DAY IN THE LIFE: Maintains, repairs, and constructs park facilities, grounds and trails including the removal of graffiti and litter. Assists with snow removal using plows, snow blowers, and shovels. Assists with forestry and fire fuels projects. Assists with noxious weed management, including pesticide application. Assists with wildlife management program. Assists with volunteer projects. Operates mid-sized motorized equipment. Operates hand and powered tools. Assists with set up and operation of special events. Communicates openly and constructively with supervisor and district employees to enable efficient decision-making and positive morale. Maintains equipment in clean and safe condition; operates equipment safely at all times. Promotes safe conditions in all park facilities. Provides assistance and guidance to public park users as needed. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: Minimum Qualifications: • High School diploma or equivalence; AND • Some experience in park maintenance, forestry, or trail maintenance preferred; OR • Any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above described work. • Possession of, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Oregon driver's license. Applicants should have strong knowledge of: • Principles, practices and methods used in park maintenance, vegetation management, and trail construction. • Noxious weed control. • Maintenance and safe operation of powered equipment and hand tools.
