Job Summary We are seeking a Carpenter to join our dynamic, inclusive team! We are a small, design and build residential remodeling firm seeking an individual with 10-15 years of experience in residential construction. Ideal candidates are individuals with high levels of organization, critical thinking/problem solving, and collaborative communication with managers and co-workers. We are looking for candidates with residential remodeling experience who enjoy the challenges associated with older home renovations. The Carpenter’s workload will incorporate: demolition, site protection, and clean up, framing, installing doors and windows, installing cabinets, and finish carpentry tasks, reporting directly to the Lead Carpenter on site. No requirement for client communication, subcontractor management, or budget management. Job Responsibilities Perform general carpentry tasks, site demolition and clean-up, job site organization, wood framing, finish carpentry, and door and window install Strong plan reading skills to perform framing layout and material take offs Assist Lead Carpenter with delegation of tasks, problem solving, and task sequencing Driving company and personal vehicle to lumber yard for materials and to take trailer to dump for disposal when needed Periodically organize Woodcrafters shop, maintain tools, and jobsites Follow Project Manager instructions and pre-established Woodcrafters guidelines to perform functions of the job Work under immediate supervision of Lead Carpenter Qualifications Education: Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent Tools: Typical hand tools, nail guns, compressors, & cordless tools Have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and construction procedures Proficiency in the use of technology for: E-mail - Internet -Smart phone Personal Qualities Positivity: Keep a great attitude with clients and staff at all times, demonstrate patience with difficult situations, and lead by example in these areas Organization: Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track those goals, keep paperwork, and electronic files well organized Critical Thinking: Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and implement the solution Respect and Cultural Competency: Understand ethical behavior and business practices and ensure that own behavior and the behavior of others reflects values of the organization. Communication: Speak, listen, and write in a clear, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques Decisiveness: Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency or risks, and communicate clearly to Lead Carpenter Working Conditions Carpenter will work primarily in the field, on the jobsite 35-40 hours per week; shop work and obtaining materials is usually 0-5 hours per week. Carpenter will work a standard work week, which is 9 hours a day, 7:30 am to 5pm with a required half hour lunch. Every other Friday is a day off to keep 80 hours for two-week total. Compensation Details The rate of pay is competitive and will vary from $25 to $35 depending on experience. 6 days paid time off (PTO), 5 paid holidays per year, 1 extra vacation day per year of employment with Woodcrafters for full time employees (35hr/week average) Annual bonus at the end of the year with ½ profit sharing and ½ performance based Health care and dental for employee after 2 months full time employment (35hr/week average) *Children and spouses can be added to policy at employee’s discernment, and paid by employee in full* Aflac additional coverage optional at employee’s discretion and payment Mileage reimbursement at the federal government rate for job related travel
