Do you have a passion for helping children? Do you love being around horses?
We have the perfect volunteer opportunities for you!
Sundance Circle Hippotherapy is looking for sidewalkers, horse leads and barn team members to assist our Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists in the arena and help care for our herd. Helping disabled children experience such a unique therapy is a fun and rewarding experience, which has a remarkable impact on their lives.
The sidewalkers job is to help the therapist by monitoring and assisting the patient as they are riding the horse during the session.
The horse leads are responsible for getting the horse prepared for each therapy session and walk the horse during the session.
Barn team members do a variety of chores from feeding the horses, cleaning the stalls to DIY around the facility.
The arena where the sessions take place is covered and shielded from the elements; however, the arena is not temperature controlled. Good physical condition is highly recommended, as lots of walking is required.
Shifts typically last 2-4 hours and are available Monday through Saturday at various times. Questions regarding available shifts can be answered after training or as needed by the volunteer coordinator.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. We are always looking for volunteers who are passionate about helping children. We would love to hear from you!
