Description
Researchers at The Rockefeller University Hospital are conducting a study of immune cells in the lining of the large intestine. These cells help to defend the intestine from bacteria, viruses, and associated diseases. The purpose of this research is to compare the immune cells in the intestine in people with colorectal cancer to the immune cells in healthy people. What we learn may help to develop future therapies for people with colon cancer.
Eligible healthy participants will undergo blood tests, and an exam of the lower part of the intestine using a slim lighted tube, (Flexible Sigmoidoscopy) through which biopsies will be collected.
