Description

What is F5? We are a group of animal lovers, founded by Larry Daley and Dr. Namita Gill ( who was born in Malaysia). Our mission is to help change the trajectory of ill-fated stray dogs in Malaysia. We are trying to raise awareness of the plight of these stray dogs, educate and promote humanity towards them, and seek justice for strays abused and killed without reason. We are building a welfare program to aid shelters in Malaysia and to advocate the Trap, Neuter, Release Manage (TNR-M) model. We have no paid employees, no rent and only modest overhead. All proceeds go directly to help the strays. Read more about Malaysian stray dogs on our website Come join us and tour the iconic Albers Vista Gardens, followed by some other cool stuff. This is an 18 year old and up event. Well behaved 4 legged babies are welcome, but must be on a leash or pet pack, and you are responsible for any presents left in the gardens. The gardens are not pet stroller friendly. Agenda: 10:30-11 am: Registration and receive F5 " we speak for the Voiceless" t-shirt.11:00 am ( sharp) : Tour of Albers Vista Gardens by John Albers. Tour lasts approximately 1 hour.12 pm: Lunch, beer garden, music, and activities just across from Albers Vista gardens.2:00 pm- Silent Auction results Here is a little bit about the gardens: In the summer of 1998, John Albers, and his wife Santica Marcovina, both Research Professors of Medicine at the University of Washington, were touring the Olympic Peninsula and fell in love with a house overlooking the Port Washington Narrows in East Bremerton. Santica was attracted by the house nested on a hillside with a backdrop of a native madrona and maple woodland while John’s major interest was in the two acres of lawn punctuated by old fruit trees remaining from the original orchard. The house was for sale, John and Santica immediately made an offer, and after a few months moved from West Seattle to their new location. While Santica was busy in making the house their home, John, an avid gardener, started his plans of transforming the lawn into a garden. Taking advantage of the beautiful Southwest facing slope framed to the west by the Olympic Mountains, John laid out paths of granite steppingstones, without changing the topography, to define the distinct garden areas he had in mind. Different varieties of conifers were first planted in strategic locations to provide backbone and structure to the garden, followed by a large variety of trees, shrubs, and perennials. After the tour, head across the street to a much more modest Asian garden for lunch, activities, and educational material for you to learn more about Malaysian stray dogs Lunch will have a Malaysian theme. There will be a beer / wine garden as well with local beverages for purchase. There will be a silent auction offering local getaways, food packages, and other great items.
