This year's conference title and theme is Become an FCS Influencer: Live it, Teach it, Share it. Our survey results are in and we are so excited to be planning an event where we come back together again in person to celebrate all of our classroom successes and learn from the invited field professionals as well as from one another, as you have asked for! This year's conference will include a robust networking period to share lesson plans that can be brought back to our students. We can't wait to connect again at UNH's Memorial Union Building this October 14th! Speakers Hannah Garvey- One of our NHAFCS member-at-large members, FCS Coop Middle School, Stratham, “20 NHAFCS Teacher of the Year, and NE Network Member (NH Rep). As the chairperson for the NHAFCS “NH FCS Standards Committee” Hannah led the committee in developing a useful, visually pleasing set of standards for our profession.She will guide us through assigning standards for a current, or new lesson plan. Teach It. Vicki Connell- Vicki, a SNHU Retired Chair of Culinary and Pastry Programs, demonstrates how to start with a budget utilizing unit pricing, bulk products and from scratch cooking to save money. She will demonstrate how to use a whole chicken to stretch into 2-3 different meals- Perfect for Independent Living courses! Live it HAVEN NH Ending Violence. Changing Lives.- Sarah Shanan discusses the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences, or ACES, and the impact of trauma for students under 18 and how to teach resilience. Teach It Stephanie Knight- NE Representative for NE Network Region, National Partnership to Recruit, Prepare, and Support FCS Educators (AAFCS), and Retired FCS teacher from Maine. Stephanie will give us insight into the partnership and show us some great ways to Share It. Busy Beezzz- A local NH Apiary located in Hooksett, NH. Learn all about beekeeping, natural earth systems, honey and health benefits from bees. Additional Speakers On: Child Development, Make it and Take it (sewing), a therapeutic activity What to Expect - A light breakfast, lunch & afternoon tea will be served. - A full hour dedicated to networking with fellow NH FCS Educators. - Silent auction and raffle prizes. - Bring your laptop for scavenger hunt and challenges. - An opportunity to share lesson plans! Please submit 1-2 lesson plans to share with fellow NH FCS Educators. In addition to a digital submission, please bring 5 hard copies to the conference itself to exchange.
