21+ Doors : 8pm Show : 9pm Paradise Valley, Montana based songwriter Sean Devine swings through Bozeman for a show at The Filling Station Thursday night, September 22 at 9:00 pm. With thirty years of writing, recording, and touring under his belt, Sean began to gain critical acclaim for his 2015 album Austin Blues, recorded at the famed Cedar Creek Recording studio in south Austin, Texas, with a crew of that music city’s finest players in the room. Tracked in three days, live to tape, the album chronicled Sean’s progress through a painful divorce and on to a new and more mature way of being in the world. Songs like the title track, and “Long Way To Go”, “Change Me”, “Gettin’ Even”, and “Get Along” marked the transition points along the way, while more raucous and celebratory titles like “The Hi Line”, ‘“I’m All Right”, and “I’d Go Broke For You” show the life that goes on, lived and felt, while the heavy lifting gets done. The album featured a full electric band for most of the songs, with Travis Woodard (Charlie Robison), Rob Ramos (Little Joe y Familia), Phil Hurley (Tracy Bonham), and Steve Bernal (Alejandro Escovedo), among others, playing the sounds and the spaces with sophistication and grace. The balance of the album features a string band, being essentially Tessy Lou and The Shotgun Stars (Montana Rose) plus Jorge Castillo on dobro, adding an earthy and homegrown feel to the collection. Jorge Castillo will join Sean at The Filler, playing acoustic, resonator, and electric guitars. Sean Devine’s more recent album, 2021’s Here For It All, was also recorded in Texas, at Sonic Ranch way down on the Mexico border east of El Paso, featuring Cody Jinks’ band The Tone Deaf Hippies, with bassist Josh Thompson as producer. The nine songs were chosen by Josh for the album, out of a folder of twenty-six unrecorded titles. Several singles, including the title track, spent 23 weeks in the Top 50 on Alt Country radio, peaking at #12. The album earned glowing reviews from Americana Highways, Sound and Soul, Americana UK, and many more, and was on the year-end Top 30 lists at Old West Americana and others. Don’t miss Montana songwriter Sean Devine, with lead guitarist Jorge Castillo, at The Filling Station in Bozeman Sept 22nd!
