Join us Friday, September 16th as we celebrate Mexican Independence Day with the Spirit of Mexico - mezcal. Enjoy a reception at Gertrude's sipping mezcal both neat and in a cocktail as you taste delicious bites like Elote Fritters, fresh Guacamole and more before setting off on a sunset stroll through the Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden.
The Garden displays 186 of the 200+ known species and varieties in the genus Agave, making this the most prominent agave collection in the United States. More than half of the plants in the collection have known wild provenance and nearly 80 percent of the seeds in the collection are of wild origin, greatly increasing the value of the collection for scientific research, as well as for display and education.
This evening is the perfect way to understand the deep connection between the land, agave and culture that gave birth to mezcal.
Many thanks to Firme Mezcal, Compa Spirits and Gertrude's for making this evening possible.
