The Melbourne Police Department Kid's Fishing Clinic is an opportunity to bring the community together in an effort to promote the outdoors as well as the unique ecosystem that is the Indian River Lagoon.
As well as to inspire children to take up a hobby that involves the outdoors while participating in the following learning environments:
1.Knot tying which includes safety and how-to tie an improved clinch knot and uni-knot.
2. Tackle station that explains rods and reels, what should be in you tackle box, first aid and sun protection, regulations and hats and sun-glasses for safety.
3. Good Angler-conservation topics to include regulations, habitat preservation, catch and release and police your trash.
4. Where Fish Live- fish habitat, what fish eat, what happens if we lose that habitat and respect all wildlife.
4. Casting- be aware of your surroundings, casting instruction and demonstration, cast into hula-hoops and proper handling while to and from fishing areas.
