Mountain Sage Community School (MSCS) is a K-8 public charter school inspired by Waldorf education and sustainable living, and is located in beautiful Fort Collins, Colorado. Mountain Sage is seeking a passionate, professional, organized, self-driven person to join our team as our Lunch Coordinator and Afternoon Custodian. As the Lunch Coordinator this person will work with volunteers and staff to serve lunch to children Monday-Friday, will perform daily administrative tasks for the lunch program such as data and payment entry, and will work closely with the Administrative Support Manager on communications and all other aspects of the lunch program. As Custodian this person will perform daily cleaning duties/routine in our 17,000 sq ft building and around our outdoor campus, in partnership with other custodial staff. The right candidate will work well under pressure, have integrity with their work, enjoy a dynamic work environment, and possess an ease interacting with students, staff, parents, and the larger community. The hours for this position are 11am-7pm Monday-Thursday with a split shift on Fridays from 8:30am-11:30am and 1:30pm-6:30pm. Mountain Sage serves hot lunch to students Monday-Thursday and a sack lunch on Friday. Hot lunches are prepared off-site and delivered to us daily. Hot lunch is pre-plated and delivered to each classroom by staff and volunteers. Parents order lunches online ahead of time. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS -Be on-site and lead lunch service Monday-Thursday, including set-up and clean-up -Receive and prepare lunches for distribution on Fridays -Organize, input, and be responsible for daily paperwork -Send and receive communications surrounding the lunch program -Train staff and volunteers on lunch service -Attend to food handling and safety needs, including receiving the proper training annually -Work with Administrative Support Manager on these and all other aspects of the lunch program -Perform regular school custodial tasks such as mopping, filling supplies, cleaning, and outdoor maintenance REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS -A passion for providing a clean, safe, and joyful environment for children -Experience in project management as the project lead -Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanor -Ability to multitask -Experience working with a wide variety of people -Some experience working with food service -Knowledge of Microsoft and Google systems, including Outlook, and comfort with information systems -A valid driver's license -A working vehicle and the ability to use it for job-related needs PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -Understanding of school custodial function or experience as a school custodian -Experience running a school food program or other food service program -Knowledge of contract negotiations and working with outside vendors -Experience training others -Understanding of Waldorf-inspired education and sustainability SAFETY TO SELF AND OTHERS In order to safely perform this position, the employee must be familiar with the safety rules of the job and participate in available/required safety training. The employee must wear personal protective equipment when required, ask for assistance if the task requires more than one person, and if unsure how to perform a task safely, stop and ask for instruction before continuing. Employees are expected to immediately report any unsafe working conditions or safety problems to the School Administration Manager, and until corrective action is taken, ensure that the area or condition is restricted. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The Lunch Coordinator and Afternoon Custodian is regularly required to stand, walk, climb stairs, work outside, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, talk, hear, taste, and smell. The custodian is frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, and/or balance. The custodian is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The custodian must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. COMPENSATION The salary range for this position is $16-$20 an hour. 40 hours per week, aligning with the school calendar. Holiday breaks generally follow those outlined on the annual school calendar with some time off and reduced hours in the summer. We offer state retirement benefits (PERA) and health benefits.
