DETROIT, MI — A carjacking suspect rammed police officers in a stolen Sport-utility vehicle before jumping out of the vehicle and making off on foot on Sunday, Fox 2 reported. The suspect intentionally drove toward a police car that was used to box him in after he parked at a Citgo gas station near Eight Mile and Southfield late Sunday night, and as he fled, he crashed into a police scout car, causing heavy damage to the front, Detroit police told the outlet. Surveillance officers were following a GMC Yukon earlier in the day after receiving reports that it had been carjacked at gunpoint, and they eventually called on uniformed officers to stop the vehicle, according to the report. When the vehicle parked at Citgo to drop someone off, officers moved in to try to box it in, but the suspect then drove it toward police, prompting officers to open fire at the suspect, Fox 2 reported. The suspect drove down Faust before crashing into a tree, and that is when he decided to run, according to the report.
