Description
I am a language researcher at a major university looking to work with a native speaker of an African language to learn more about their language. I am primarily looking for speakers of Tshiluba or other Congolese languages (Lingala, Kikongo, Swahili, Kituba, etc.). But speakers of other African languages are welcome to contact me. The speaker will act as a consultant, and no teaching experience or preparation is needed. Responsibilities include showing up to weekly or biweekly meetings, answering questions about how to say English phrases in their language and vice versa, and translating very short stories. Meeting in person within the Boston/Cambridge/Brookline area is preferable, but meeting over Zoom should also be fine if there are no audio or video quality issues.
