Description
Hello, western NC.
I'm an experienced and capable rock/pop lead vocalist who does it for the love of music. I'm most familiar with classic rock, some classic R&B, and a little classic country. I like some newer stuff too. I'm also open to a few choice originals after we all feel like we're a good match. My focus is avoiding overplayed standards and showcasing some other equally great or better songs that are also popular but audiences don't hear quite as often anymore. I have a good mental library of ideal songs.
My vocal range goes from baritones like Billy Joel, Glenn Frey of the Eagles or Matthew Sweet, to low tenors like Darryl Hall of Hall & Oates, Lou Gramm of Foreigner and Don Henley of the Eagles. Please ask me for my sample list that really showcases my ability. It'll give you a general idea of how I sound. I can't read music but still have a good ear, as well as vocal power and control. I don't have any live recordings but I used to be the lead vocalist in a classic rock cover band for about 5 years roughly three decades ago and you won't be wasting time if you invite me to sit in. I was also the drummer, but I don't seek that spot so that I can nail the vocals on more challenging songs.
I've returned to some extent doing humble but still-entertaining karaoke bits. It would be more rewarding to develop a project with musicians who strive for a reasonably polished sound, even if not playing for money--although I won't turn that away, either. Try me--at worst, not a waste of time; at best, your new singer.
Another idea is to find just one musician who's really good with his instrument who can also sing backup. You'll be impressed enough that you might commit to joining. After that it's just a matter of time before we find the right others.
If interested, please introduce yourself/ves.
Thanks.
