Description
I am looking for someone who either has a Nassau county general contractor's license, or has the qualifications to secure one (you will need to prove 5 years of recent experience) in order to go into business with me. I currently own an existing successful business in the industry, but located in MA. I am currently looking to purchase a general contractor on Long Island, which I can run and merge with my other company, but I am not able to secure a Nassau County contractor's license myself. I have plenty of experience in the industry, but it's not provable, unfortunately. So, I need a business partner to come in who can hold the license for the company. I have the capital ready for the down payment, I have identified at least one target company to purchase, which I am fully confident in my ability to fund. I expect to be closely involved with running this company, which operates in Nassau and Suffolk county. As I have existing customers throughout the NYC metro, I would expect to expand the operations as long as quickly as we can realistically scale it up. The business partner that I am looking for would need to hold 25% of the equity in order for us to get a Nassau County license. As I would be bringing the capital, you would not have to take any of the risk of failure. This partner could be as active or inactive in the business as they like. If you do not want to be active, you will receive a passive income for holding the license. If you want to take a more active role, we can work that out. It is not important for you to bring any money to the table. I will take care of financing the business purchase and paying for the license. If you do have an existing business, or if you want to participate with bringing money to the table, we can potentially scale faster. I'm open to lots of different structures. The ideal candidate: 1) has 5 years of recent residential construction experience that is verifiable through 1099 or W-2 forms. 2) does not have anything on their record that would disqualify them for a Nassau County contractors license. 3) Is an existing business owner or wants to be a business owner - i.e. has the "entrepreneur" DNA. 4) Is not looking for this as a source of an immediate guaranteed salary - as an owner, we will be paid on profitability. While I'm looking to buy a business that is profitable, there is no guarantee and it would be best if you have another source of income at least to start while we are scaling. I could see this working very well for a contractor who is currently working in Queens and Brooklyn, and wants to expand into LI. 5) Is comfortable with the risk and uncertainty of running a business. 6) Is easy going and professional. If this sounds interesting to you, please reach out to me with a summary of your experience and thoughts about why this makes sense for you right now. I'm ready to put an LOI down with a business asap, so I will respond to people quickly, and I'm not going to sit on this months before I make a decision.
