AppleTree Gourmet is looking for a talented pastry Chef with the potential to grow. You must have a background in making pastries, cakes, and kitchen procedures. NYC Food Protection license is a plus. Part-time and full-time available. It is salary based position weekly 55 hours. Salary: $1,100 Weekly. Key Responsibilities include: Pastry degree preferred Minimum 3- 4 years experience in a high quality/volume production environment Full understanding of proper pastry methods, techniques, and standards Ability to perform multiple tasks at once while working independently Ability to lead a team independently Well-versed in sanitation procedures and food handling certified preferred Ability to use various high-volume kitchen equipment Ability to withstand extreme temperatures within the kitchen, refrigerator, and freezer environments Able to mathematically adjust recipes; able to read, create, interpret and follow written recipes with precision. Ability to push, pull, and lift heavy items of more than 50 pounds when needed. Ability to visually inspect, taste, and smell products to ensure freshness and quality Ability to communicate effectively with associates/management, clients, and vendors when necessary Able to work flexible schedule to accommodate business levels Food handlers certificate Cake decorating skills preferred Scratch baker, familiar with commercial bakery equipment Must know how to read recipes, adjust to scale up or down based on need Experience working with an electric convection oven Knowledge of both pound and metric scale Must understand and practice basic food safety. Order needed ingredients for weekly production, check the quality of products daily Organize freezer and refrigeration daily Must provide work references Must have an overnight experience Great attention to detail and creativity Organizing and leadership skills Proficency in English and Spanish a plus Willingness to replenish professional knowledge In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition/food allergies Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.) Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field preferd but not required. We are looking to fill a position immediately, a one to two-day trial will be required as part of your interview process. Education: High school or equivalent (Required) Additional Compensation: Bonuses Work Location: One location Pay Frequency: Weekly Schedule: Night shift 8-hour shift Weekends required.
