Description

This is an interactive class to connect with your body and nature in a deeper way. Becky and Kaela will guide you through heart perception, breathwork, and gentle movement to open your system to sensory interaction and tree communication. We will focus on cedar, the tree of Life or grandmother tree, and it's maternal, feminine, nourishing and grounding energy. Kaela and Becky are both licensed mental health therapists whose work is intricately woven with the local ecology - nature is at the core of their work and their lives. Your trusted instructors will lead you into exploration, discovery, honoring, and connection with this sacred native tree and her gifts. We will combine ecotherapy, ecospirituality, and expressive arts to learn about and experience the emotional, physical, and spiritual healing properties of the Cedar tree, which is a medicinal tree native to the Pacific Northwest. You will learn how to ethically forage and wild craft the various gifts Cedar offers into medicine for the heart and soul and how to work with this tree respectfully, while honoring ancient indigenous wisdom and the land we are on. Explore yourself, your relationship with Cedar (or experience one if you don't have one yet), consider how you and Cedar experience various elements and emotions, self-regulation, and more. Please bring something to keep hydrated (and snacks if needed), a journal for note taking and reflection, and anything you may need to stay warm or cool based on the weather report for the afternoon. Please consider clothing you can move freely and sit comfortably in and bring a sitting pad or portable chair if needed.
