Description

The winter holidays are a special time to visit the Gardner Museum, where the festive Courtyard features dark forest greens and shades of red and silver. If you are a fan of the museum, you know how beautiful the plantings are throughout the year. From the amazing hanging nasturtiums in April, to the summery blooms of summer, warm colors of fall, and of course the festive holiday plantings. This holiday tradition showcases masses of flowering jade trees, silver dusty miller, green aloe, and the dark red winter blooms of amaryllis. The jades (Crassula argentea) in the Courtyard have been raised in the Museum’s greenhouse for many years. The largest of them, with trunks five to six inches in diameter, are over 60 years old. Please note that the Courtyard displays are part of a living collection and does change as necessary. *Insider tip: The first Thursday of each month has extended visiting hours from 11 am-9 pm HOURS MONDAY: 11 am–5 pm TUESDAY: Closed WEDNESDAY: 11 am–5 pm THURSDAY*: 11 am–5 pm (First Thursdays of each month 11 am-9 pm) FRIDAY: 11 am–5 pm SATURDAY: 10 am–5 pm SUNDAY: 10 am–5 pm COST $13 - $20 (Many libraries offer discount passes to this museum) WEBSITE www.gardnermuseum.org/experience/courtyard/holiday-garden
