If you like the unique visuals of the Steam era, this workshop is for you! Steampunk enthusiast, join us at the Northwest Art Center for a special day of mask-making! At this workshop, we will decorate and paint Halloween masks with a Steampunk look & feel. We will use cogwheel, components and other inclusions and then use specialty metallic paints to create that futuristic-retro appearance.
Students at this workshop will receive blank masks (we will have multiple mask shapes to choose-from), decorative parts like cogwheels, glue, and a selection of spray-paints, which they will use to decorate the masks as-little or as-much as they prefer (and you can also bring your own objects and inclusions from home!). Our friendly instructor Erez Benari, a prolific and experienced steampunk artist and teacher will offer tips, tricks, ideas and technique to bring out the artist in all of us.
Students will receive all they need at the workshop, and we recommend wearing work-cloths as the spray-paint tends to get into every nook and cranny. For those who are sensitive, we also recommend bringing masks (ideally, KN95 for maximum filtration of the spray-paint fumes), as well as eye-protection. The workshop is suitable for any student old-enough to work with glue and spray paint. If you have a “glue gun” (glue-stick heated dispenser), we recommend bringing it, as well as glue-sticks, to facilitate a quick turn-around for your work (students using regular glue will need to leave their creation behind for a few hours for the glue to cure).
