Smith University archivist John Howard, Planner, City of Charlotte Hosted by: Dr. Tom Hanchett, Community Historian Johnson C. Smith University archivist Brandon Lunsford offers an update on a massive project to document and map the vanished Black neighborhood of Brooklyn, demolished to build Charlotte’s Government Center. He’ll be joined by John Howard, planner for the City of Charlotte, who will share research on the elite African American neighborhood of Hyde Park off Beatties Ford Road, known for homes designed by architect Harvey Gantt. The Rosalie Reynolds Explore History Series presented by Wells Fargo s a partnership with The Duke Mansion and the North Carolina Chapter of The Institute of Classical Architecture and Art.
