Seeking Clackamas County Landowner Unused Land Lease to Young Farmer

Description
Hello all, I am a young farmer/rancher looking to partner with Clackamas County landowners to graze on their land. I consider myself to be a low-input, regenerative focused grazier, putting a focus on the health of our land first. With the rising cost of land, a lot of beginning farmers have little to no options when it comes to land access. An ideal partner would be an absentee land owner with 20+ acres. The desired agreement is that in exchange for allowing me to graze animals during the spring and summer, I would take care of land maintenance, improve the value of your land with soil health, forage quality, fencing, water infrastructure, you will also see a flourish of wildlife come back to your land (opportunity for hunting leases). And of course, getting to look out at your beautiful pasture of happily grazing cows knowing you are contributing to our local food systems and keeping our farmland in production is extremely satisfying. This may sound too good to be true to some, so to be clear about expectations here is a run down: Land owner ideally has land that isn’t “improved” yet, justifying an inexpensive lease. I am willing to pay an agreed upon monthly rent. Communication is key, the last thing I want is for someone to feel taken advantage of, wishes not respected or privacy invaded. Land owner will NEVER have to pay me for labor. If there are specific infrastructure projects that improve land value as it pertains to biology or livestock I’d love to assist land owners in materializing their hopes and dreams for their land. Depending on the project, I may provide funds for materials, split cost, or land owner provides full funding. In an ideal world we would start with a few years lease and if wanting to continue move to a long term lease. Animals will only be on your land during the growing season to minimize damage to pastures. We will talk extensively beforehand about expectations of land owner so that our agreement works for both of us. I am open to any arrangement. I am extremely flexible and willing to work with anybody who has an interest. If you, or someone you know may be interested I would love chat and see if we would be a good fit. I am looking to secure a lease agreement of some sort by this winter, have the land set up to graze by the spring. Thank you for reading!
