Yard-Custodial Worker/General Maintenance Assistant Job Description: • Will work directly with the Resident Manager to maintain the appearance A/B/C buildings, walkways, lobby, trash room/drops rooms, swimming pool, pool restroom facility, parking lots and common areas. • The assistant will perform yard duties such as mowing, raking, trimming hedges and trees, sweeping, and blowing down sidewalks and walkways. • The assistant on occasion will work on daily assigned tasks and/or projects such as mixing and pouring cement, painting of common areas and assist the resident manager with various tasks that may come up. • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. • Moderate physical activity that will requires some physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as rain and hot temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Desired Qualifications: • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) with two years of related experience performing grounds keeping work, custodial, and/or general maintenance. • Responsible, reliable, detail-oriented, and take pride in their workmanship. • Ability to understand verbal instructions. • Ability to follow specific verbal/written directions and instructions. • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures. • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and in various weather conditions. • Possess a positive attitude and willingness to address residents in a courteous and respectful manner. • Ability to work or stand for prolonged periods, work accurately and quickly, and lift 50 lbs. • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting/handling procedures. • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening test with the possibility of random drug screening throughout the duration of employment. • Prior experience a plus but will train the right person. • Ability to operate lawn mowers, chainsaw, vacuums, and other related equipment. • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade. • Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
