Description

Join Factory 3 instructors Ric Day (first class of the month) or Ted Russell (second class of the month) and learn how to use a jointer, planer, table saw, miter saw, drill press, and band saw with precision and safe handling techniques. In this 4-hour class you will gain hands-on experience with each of our woodshop machines as the instructor guides you through the process of turning a raw piece of lumber into a retail grade "cut board." To keep everyone safe, Factory 3 requires masks to be worn and proper social distancing to maintained at all times during the class. For a full list of our COVID-19 Safety Protocols, visit factory3.org/covid. About the instructors: Ric Day is a retired physician and lifelong woodworker as an avocation. He has made tables, desks, Windsor chairs, and utilitarian items such as bowls, spoons and cutting boards. In his classes he hopes the participant finds a passion, fun and creativity to continue their woodworking journey. His studies include classes with Phil Lowe, Allan Breed and many other talented woodworkers in Maine and New Hampshire. Jason Haskell’s direction as an artist and woodworker is to showcase cultural representation and personal experiences. He is inspired by sculptures and art furniture designers that push form and structure. He uses a technical knowledge of woodworking to expand art furniture with personal concepts and mixed mediums. Jason’s projects since graduation from Maine College of Art & Design reflect his participation in the development of all-inclusive LGBTQ+/ BIPOC businesses in Portland.
