Join us on October 7, 2022 to hear Fr. Jacob Bearer. Fr. Jacob Bearer grew up in Painesville, Ohio and attended public schools, graduating from Riverside High School in ’06. A powerful encounter with Jesus at a youth group event radically changed the direction of his life. After that encounter with Christ, he returned to practicing his Catholic faith. The eucharist and rosary were instrumental in his vocation. He attended Borromeo College Seminary out of high school and then Saint Mary Seminary for theology studies. After spending two years discerning a religious vocation with the Capuchin Franciscans, he returned to the Diocese of Cleveland and was ordained a priest in 2017. His first assignment placed him at St. Francis de Sales in Akron. During the first part of his time at St. Francis, Fr. Jacob helped a ministry called Peter's Shadow. This ministry offered Nights of Healing Prayer at different parishes in the diocese. Their ministry of healing helped open his eyes to the presence and power of God’s kingdom at work through the Body of Christ, the Church. He witnessed so-called “average Joes and Janes” work miracles through the name of Jesus. He continues to teach about and pray for healing in his parish assignments, even though he is no longer part of the leadership team of Peter’s Shadow. His second assignment was at St. Columbkille in Parma. That assignment helped him continue to learn and grow. After a brief stay at his second assignment, he was appointed by Bishop Malesic to St. Edward’s and St. Lucy’s as administrator in Geauga County. He looks forward to continuing to journey with the people of God and together grow closer to Christ. He hopes to be appointed pastor of his current parishes in the near future.
