Join Onondaga Earth Corps, the Syracuse Urban Food Forest Project, and other partners in Elmwood Park on Saturday, October 15th from 9am to 1pm to plant more food-growing shrubs and trees.
These plants won't solve food insecurity -- a handful of berries simply won't cut it, unfortunately -- but they provide an opportunity to connect with the land through urban foraging and remind us that quality food is a human right. This is an added benefit layered on top of their other environmental services -- providing shade, wildlife habitat, soil erosion control, flood control, CO2 sequestration, and aesthetics.
