Description

Join this volunteer-led event at Easter Lake Park to make your mark on reducing trash in our local waterways! Volunteers will help on land or in the water to remove trash in Easter Lake and its main tributary, Yeader Creek. Participants are invited to bring their own canoes and kayaks for the event. For those without their own watercraft, a limited number of canoes will be available for use. The value of your volunteer efforts - Each time it rains, trash from streets, parking lots, and more is carried into Yeader Creek via storm drains located throughout the Easter Lake Watershed. This trash presents a threat to wildlife, water quality, recreation, and produces problems downstream all the way to our oceans. By participating in this event you will not only create a cleaner Easter Lake, but you will prevent these trashy problems from reaching the Des Moines River, Mississippi River, and all the way to the Gulf of Mexico! During the event, participants will also learn about our core Easter Lake Volunteer group and events they help lead each week!
