REQUIRED FOR ALL 8-12 YEAR OLDS IN ORDER TO ADVANCE FROM ORANGE BELT TO PURPLE BELT Is your 8-12 year old an Orange Belt right now about to test for their Purple belt? If so, please read on: Phase Testing is a test that students will go through when advancing from beginner ranks to intermediate, intermediate to advanced, and advanced to black belt. This will be an extra test held before graduation. The test will be more difficult as the requirements to pass change per phase, and students will be held to a higher standard each time. Phase 1 Testing- Beginner to Intermediate (Orange to Purple) Mental Requirements-students will be evaluated on the following: – Dedication: Attending class twice per week and practicing at home other days per week. – Confidence: Showing a positive self-attitude and belief in oneself. – Respect: Showing respect for others and themselves. – Discipline: Showcasing discipline by being able to take directions and commands. Physical Requirements-will be tested in class @ Phase 1 testing: – Understand the physical application of the required curriculum at the beginning of phase testing. – Begin to show signs of increased strength and flexibility. – Must be able to properly execute the basic techniques of the training with Power, Speed, Focus, Accuracy, Intensity, and Excellence. – Must understand and execute the four elements of power in their basic technique. – Body Alignment: ie. Lining up their vision, shoulders, hip, and heel of their foot when executing their sidekick. – Rotation: ie. Pivoting their shoulders, hips, and supporting foot when executing a rear leg or arm attack. – Back-Up Mass: ie. Putting their whole body into their technique. – Speed: Moving with urgency and timing. Must be able to pass the Fitness Test-Fitness Test will be conducted during Phase Testing (Requirements for Fitness Test are attached)
