PROMISE features personal narratives from some of our favorite community members, peer support specialists, and HIV activists, and we are excited to share these role model stories with you.
“PROMISE” is an acronym for “Peers Reaching Out and Modeling Intervention Strategies.” PROMISE for High Impact Prevention is an effective community-level HIV/sexually transmitted prevention intervention that relies on role model stories and peer advocates to promote healthy behaviors and change social norms related to the HIV care continuum.
Role Models generated short videos and a photo campaign based on their own lived experiences. By utilizing their personal stories, participants model strategies and goal behaviors related to HIV testing, PrEP, HIV status disclosure, linkage to care, retention in care, or adherence to ART for friends and community members.
