Bradford WatsonAt This Point...The phrase “at this point…” positions conversation with what we know at a particular point in time. It is a useful framework for looking at history and how decisions were made, given the context and knowledge at the time. It is also a way of acknowledging the current conditions and spaces that are unknown. It can also be a way of predicting where things will be in the future. Chuck Yeager instructed pilots to “take aim, fly the bullet into position”, locating a point in the future. As architecture is a futuristic endeavor, taking years to design and construct and hopefully lasting for generations, where should our point of departure be located?BioBradford Watson, Associate Professor of Architecture, was appointed Director of the Clemson Architecture Center in Charleston this August after 10 years at Montana State University. Prior to that he was a Project Director | Designer in Cleveland, Ohio working primarily for non-profit organizations in the cultural and performing arts. There will be a reception prior to the lecture starting at 5:30 and will resume after the lecture.
