Description

Let's do it again! As Detroiters we are so lucky to have an amazing space like the beach on Belle Isle. Grab your itsy bitsy swimware, caftans, hats and sunglasses to enjoy another day on the beach. Monday, Sep 5th from 11a-7p. I know what you're thinking... "😲11am!!!!" We are expecting the island to be busy that day so this will help ensure a smooth journey across the bridge. Should there be traffic there is always the options to walk or ride your bike across. Also take this opportunity to explore some of the other awesome amenities on the island: the now famous Belle Isle Giant Slide, the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, the Belle Isle Aquarium, Dossin Great Lakes Museum, tennis courts, Belle Isle Nature Zoo, the James Scott Memorial Fountain, or the New Oudolf Garden. Where will we be located? When you arrive at the beach look for the raised Progressive Pride Flags. We will be west of the comfort station towards the Detroit Yacht Club. Everyone is welcome! We encourage you to to arrive as you are, express your truest self or to bring along extra style. Chic picnic baskets, linens, pillows, draped tables, candelabras.... bring it. Swimsuits, sarongs, robes? Whatever floats your boat. In terms of libations, be discreet. This 1,000 acre island is a state park, and they don’t technically allow alcohol on the beach. So be creative with your vessels. Red solo cups? Amateur hour. Think creatively; coffee cups, Campbell's soup cans, Sand Castle Pale, or just a water bottle.... you get the idea. Don’t be obvious. Opportunity to make a 100% optional donation to Parasol's new accessibility efforts. Parasol's mission is to "Build Community through Supporting Community." One way we support the community by booking queer and queer allied entertainers/vendors and compensating them fairly. This creates expenses for events that can put ticket prices out of reach for some of our friends in the community. As being part of the community no one should be excluded for economic reasons. In an effort to work to correct this your donation will be used to lower the cost of future events and provide free or reduced cost tickets to individ
