Description
I've posted here before, got a few replies, had some emails back and forth then more often than not, on their side they'd be like 'I'm busy this weekend, let's plan something soon' and then... I moved back to the US after some years abroad, right before covid.. now really wanting to play/ play out again! I'm an experience Blues/ Rock/ Jamband / borderline Jazz guitarist/ bassist looking for musicians who want to start a band, learn covers, write originals, play gigs. I'm primarily a guitarist, who sings (though I wouldn't call myself a vocalist), but I also play, and own, Bass. For Covers: Grateful dead is a good place to start. Enough people know it, it's fun, it jams. Freddie King, Stevie Ray, The Ventures, John Scofield Go Go/ Bump/ MMW type stuff, Doors, Skatelites. While I listen to many other bands I'm less likely to cover new stuff (I also have a metal, punk, ska and bluegrass streak that comes out so often)..Ultimately the music should drive the listeners, have some level of improv, and feel good playing. (Mainly talking about playing electric, but acoustic is also an option fyi. David Grisman, Bill Monroe, Fingerstyle, etc) For Originals: I've written a good amount of songs, always it changes based on who I am with, what I'm writing it for. Generally the original stuff is.. to save time, a combination of all the above, or not. Nice going with an idea, or mood. I'm not strict into any genre, but it should feel unique, fresh, enjoyable. I love gigging but that doesn't need to be immediate. I'm looking for: Drummer who has a similar vision, or a vision of your own that I can bring to life! Bass vs Guitar? I love playing guitar, singing, soloing- that's super natural to me. If you're a bassist looking for this, I'm your guy. One of the last bands I was in abroad, there was an awesome guitarist/bassist and we saw eye to eye, so easily we'd trade bass and guitar between songs, when the bassist wasn't around. Happy to do that. Or if you're a pretty decent guitarist and we share the vision, I can be happy on bass. I'm 37, married with kids, have a full time job, so someone who gets that or has a similar schedule is preferred. I have a garage with Guitar + amp, Bass + amp, and electric drumkit (not preferred but hey.. you can bring drums too) or can go to your place/ rent a space. Let's see who replies and if we can get something going!
