The physiological symptoms of a panic attack—including racing heart, nausea, and hyperventilation—provoke intense fear, anxiety, and discomfort in individuals with panic disorder. However, these symptoms are not dangerous, and efforts to avoid themoften lead to more distress. Interoceptive exposures are exercises designed to expose an individual to symptoms associated with panic in a non-panic setting in order to reduce related fear and anxiety.
In this intermediate-level presentation, participants will have the opportunity to engage in interoceptive exposures personally and develop skills to support clients during these exposures.
This training will be led by Sophia Alapati, LCPC. Completion of this training is worth 1 CEU credit. This training will be offered in person and virtually. If you would like to join us virtually, Zoom details will be sent out as the event gets closer!
