Cape = [email protected] MATHIAS FIELDS - JOB DESCRIPTION PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR JOB TITLE: Production Supervisor STATUS: Exempt (Full-Time) COMPENSATION: Annual salary + Profit sharing, life insurance coverage, paid sick time, vacation accrual, paid holidays. POSITION OVER-VIEW = This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious, inquisitive Environmental Science graduate to quickly ascend to a leadership role in the Cannabis Industry. The successful candidate will participate in an intensive training program in the hope that he / she will be ready to assume the Head Growers role in 18-24 months. GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: There are TWO aspects of the Production Supervisor position = 1) SUPERVISION = The Production Supervisor will over-see the Mathias Fields front-line staff and ensure that daily work activities are completed in a safe, timely, accurate manner. 2) CROP MANAGEMENT = The Production Supervisor will monitor the condition of the crop, record key data and confer with the Head Grower to determine appropriate cultural practices and operational priorities. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: The Production Supervisor reports to the Head Grower SUPERVISION EXERCISED: The Production Supervisor actively supervises front-line employees and accomplishes assigned work through advanced planning, active communication and individual performance appraisal. EXAMPLE OF SUPERVISORY DUTIES: 1. Maintain a safe and healthy work environment. 2. Maintain a positive work environment conducive to trust and respect. 3. Provide training to subordinates as necessary to ensure that they understand your expectations. 4. Make sure that all subordinates have the tools that they need to do their job. 5. Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, company policies, federal, state and local regulations. 6. Ensure that subordinates consistently meet company standards for productivity and work quality. 7. Ensure that all work operations are executed according to SOPs / best practices. 8. Check the crop schedule daily to make sure that the right strains / quantities are planted and harvested. 9. Maintain the cleanliness and sanitization of all work areas. 10. Develop and document departmental procedures. 11. Coach, counsel, reward and discipline employees in accordance with the organizational policies and procedures. 12. Perform and document periodic performance appraisals. 13. Maintain employee work schedules. 14. Manage Inventory counts and Metrc tagging procedures. 15. Protect organizational assets including confidential information. EXAMPLES OF CULTIVATION DUTIES: 1. Monitor the condition of the crop and ensure that crop needs are attended to in a timely, accurate manner. 2. Check the environmental control computer graphs and status reports at least once each day to confirm that all systems are working properly. 3. Collect critical environmental and cultural data on a daily basis and send it to the Head Grower for analysis. 4. Monitor all crops for the presence of Diseases and Pests and maintain scouting records. 5. Ensure that the planned pesticide rotation is executed properly – This includes safety procedures and proper mixing and application processes. Check and report the efficacy of all pesticide applications. 6. Check to ensure that the growing media, fertilizers and other material in-puts are correct. 7. Report any / all crop issues (timing, quality, yield, diseases and pests, nutritional issues, physiological issues, etc.) to the Head Grower as soon as they are noted. 8. Conduct a detailed inspection of all incoming plant material BEFORE it is brought into the production area. Any issues should be reported to the head grower immediately and the plants should be quarantined pending further examination. EXAMPLES OF POST-HARVEST DUTIES : 1. Check conditions in the drying, curing, and storage areas DAILY to ensure that the environment is optimal. 2. Ensure that all flower is harvested at the peak of potency / quality and moved immediately to the drying room. 3. Ensure that all Metrc Harvesting and plant movement requirements are observed. 4. Ensure that all harvested product is properly dried / cured. 5. When a batch of flower is fully dried and cured, see that it is moved into gamma-sealed containers and placed in the storage area. Check the product daily to ensure that moisture content is correct and that the material is free of disease. 6. Monitor bucking operations to minimize waste and mechanical damage to the trichomes. 7. Monitor trimming activities daily to ensure that the flowers are not being over-trimmed (proper flower : sweet-leaf ratio) and that large flowers are not being broken into small flowers (Proper Big : small flower ratio). Also check for mechanical damage. 8. Monitor the quality of all out-going flower. 9. Verify weights of all assemblies are accurate within predefined variance. 10. Label containers and assemble packaging with sticker and bar code labels. 11. Clean and sanitize weigh station area multiple times a day. 12. Monitor our order “fulfillment rate” and call out any operational issues. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Ability to effectively lead the front-line force. 2. Willingness to work varied hours including nights, weekends and holidays, 3. Ability to collect, record and accurately organize production data. 4. Ability to independently simultaneously manage a variety of tasks. 5. Ability to communicate clearly, honestly and effectively with staff, management. 6. Ability to be patient, flexible and poised in a fast paced, constantly evolving environment. 7. Proficient with Word-processing and spreadsheet programs. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Science in Horticulture or a related field. CERTIFICATES/LICENSES: Current CA driver’s license. Pesticide applicators license preferred but not required. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work may require prolonged sitting/standing, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate farm/garden equipment, a computer, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing. Requires close vision with the ability to see color and adjust focus. Requires lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds, and using assistance (multiple people, forklift, dolly) when lifting/moving over 100 pounds. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a busy Cannabis facility and/or operations/finishing area. The facility may be very loud due to fans and filtration systems and may be uncomfortably warm. The Production Supervisor will be exposed to the normal chemicals found in a crop production facility. Work may be stressful at times and may include dealing with difficult people.
