Question on digital art/how to find out resolution for print to paper

Off the wall question...at least for me. Purchasing a laptop for daughter, along with a Wacom drawing pad. I have no idea how to tell if the setup will print with high resolution to paper. Is there a spec or way I can figure that out before spending a bunch of money on the laptop and draw pad? Her art looks great as long as it remains digital...but when you try to print it looks a mess. Thanks for any advice!
